Vegetarian and Vegan Food Pyramids

The food pyramid has been around for a long time. It has been used to help us figure out what we should be putting into our bodies for optimal nutrition.  As we became more enlightened about how much healthier a more plant based (a.k.a. vegetarian) lifestyle was, a need was created for a guideline for those who chose this way of eating. Enter, the vegetarian pyramid.  As many moved from vegetarian to vegan, another pyramid came into being.  

Eating well does not only involve changing from one way of eating to another.  It means researching and knowing more about what we should put into our bodies.  We can change to eating more vegetables and still be unhealthy because we are not eating the right quantities of other things.
