Today is our wedding anniversary. June 23, 2001 is the day that Jennifer James became Jennifer Valerie. We are 8 yrs along in this journey and it has been an interesting experience to say the least.
I have totally loved being married to my hubby and our friendship and intimacy just keeps getting better. We are by no means the perfect married couple(who is) but we are so blessed to be together. The Lord knew what He was doing when He brought us together. My husband completes me in ways I could never have imagined as a single. He is an extrovert and I am a reformed introvert. Because of him I have evolved from being a reserved person to a more outgoing one. The basics of being an introvert such as needed time alone to recharge and refresh are still there but my relating skills have gone past the reserved way I was before.
I was relating to our Senior Pastor's wife on Sunday how I used to carry a book with me everywhere I went so that in case nobody talked to me I would be able to read and not suffer embarrassment. I have a passion for reading and books every since I've known myself but there was a time I used to hide behind it. Now if I carry a book somewhere it is not because I want to hide.
To many who know me they would not suspect that I was that way because if you're my friend I relate to you differently but if you're not then the reservedness would have tortured me inside.
I have grown by leaps and bounds in the 8 yrs that Dolph & I have been married. I have seen myself blossom and become so beautiful. My relationship with God has caused me to be able to submit to my dear husband and he is an example of loving your wife as Christ loves the church. I love being his soul mate, best friend, mother to his children, ministry partner, prayer support, home keeper, and all the different hats I wear being married to him.
Life has challenges and we've faced quite a bit of them but I don't for one moment regret that we got married. With Christ as our center, our focus, our guide, our helper and everything we need, our marriage is really great and I'm enjoying myself immensely.
Dolph you are the most precious person on earth to me and I want to take this blog post to let you know that the most wonderful, the best, the awesomest years of my life have been while married to you. You complete me in ways that I cannot even express. Thank you for loving me as Christ loves the Church. Thank you for being in my life. I love you mucho.
