I would love it if you would add your insights and whatever the Lord ministers to you as you read the bible passage. You can do that in the comments section of this post. God speaks to us in so many ways and what you share here may just be the word that I or someone else who reads it needs for the day and situation.

  1. Hi Jennifer,
Public schools were created in America to teach people how to read so they could read the Bible on their own and no longer be subject to editing or mis-interpretation. It was such a privelege to read - and to read the Bible. Now most people in America read, and do not open their Bibles to learn more about what God has to say.

In the early 1990s, students in my composition classes at the university were required to write their essays on computers. Statistically students' grades increased by a letter grade because it was easier to type, improve content, and correct errors. That doesn't happen today. Students do not even bother to spell check or improve their content unless under duress.

I think both are an example of human nature - and God understood human nature so completely that He sent His Son. That is not an excuse; however, it is an opportunity to reserve judgement and provide real ministry opportunities whether it is through sharing a cup of coffee with someone and ministering through actions. It is sad our faith sometimes is a flow and ebb thing - when life becomes easy, we ebb; when it's difficult we flow closer.

I do not think our children hear enough about God's wrath - they have developed a couch potato approach - "I asked Jesus into my heart." They do not say, "I joined God's Army - I'm going to work for God, live by his principals, and let him mentor me like a sargeant training me." No, it's more like, "God loves me. He'll forgive everyone with a good heart whether they believe or not. God's working for me." They do not see the contract involves 2 people. As a result, they do not really see the holistic nature of God and do not understand accountability.

Have a blessed day! Sorry about being so long-winded, but I loved responding the passage. I cannot wait to hear about your mission trip!
