I'll tell you why. I looked at the ingredients on the empty muesli bag and found that I had many of those same ingredients in my kitchen. I figured all I had to to was just mix them up. And it worked. I'm not saying that I'll never buy muesli again but I am saying that if I have the ingredients on hand I will make it myself and save some money.
Here's my recipe for homemade muesli which has been tweaked over and over depending on the ingredients I have on hand at the time.
Homemade Muesli1 1/2 cups oats
handful of sunflower seeds
handful of sliced almonds
handful of raisins
handful of shredded coconut
handful of any other nuts on hand
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. That's it. Very simple - and you know I'm all for simple. Change the quantities to suit your individual tastebuds.
Serve with your favorite milk - coconut milk, almond milk or just some sweetened herbal tea like we do most times.
You can have this as a snack, breakfast or supper.
