The kids in the back of the truck:
This tourist site is in the Layou River area. It's called Miracle Valley and Lake.
It's called that because a few years ago an entire mountain shifted and left a valley in its place and the place where the mountain shifted to ended up having this huge lake. Now when I say shifted I don't mean a landslide, I mean actually moving with the trees and all intact. It's just an awesome sight. The guy who showed us around took us on this hike through the mountain to various viewpoints so that we could see it from different vantage points and understand exactly what happened. Here are some of the pictures we took while there.

This is a small brown lake that formed in the valley created by the missing mountain:

On the way back to St. Joseph:
My hubby standing on some dry coconuts(not the jelly coconuts):We stopped to help someone who had car trouble. Now as if that was not enough fun, when we got to St. Joseph I got off the truck and went home to cook lunch while they dropped my mother in law home. Well when they came back to pick me up about 1/2 hour later we had my brother in law Junior and his family join us. Yippee! More family! More fun! My mother in law also came back with them! We went back to Layou but this time to the river.
Oh, Jenn! That sounds like an absolutely fantastic weekend!!! Thanks for posting all those photos! Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh about washing clothes on a rock, we've been doing that a lot here -- but it's not as much fun when you have to do it! Water's been pretty scarce, so we've been conserving. I think it would be a lot more fun if we went to the river to do it...but the river here is partly salt and partly mud. I don't think the clothes would get very clean!!!
Did you get your computer problem solved?
Blessings, Sister!!!
such beautiful pictures!! what a relaxing and joy-filled day. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour family always looks like they have so much fun together. I always enjoy reading your adventures.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the prayers for my dad. I know lots of people have been praying and although it was still a major surgery, the doctors were amazed to find that it was not nearly as bad as they had first diagnosed. My dad told them it was because of prayer, but they were skeptical. I agree with my dad. He still has lots of recovery time, but we are very thankful for the results.
Love,
Pam
Oh that hike looks like it was lots of fun. What beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help smiling with those pictures. It really looked like a fun day. And that mountain that moved. That is amazing. When did it move? Recently? The earth is really alive and we should understand the need to take care of it.
ReplyDeleteThat was neat scrolling through the pictures. Looks like fun was had by all--even while washing clothes!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my header. I love those pictures so much that I have them hanging in my living room!
