Installment #4 of 100+ things to do in Dominica
30. Admire the vistas from Gallion
A steep hike up a track(near Soufriere) to the village of Gallion will reward you with stunning views of Soufriere and Scotts Head and the bay far below. There are benches at the lookout. You can also drive there!

31. Kayak along the shore
A paddle along the Caribbean coast is an ideal way to see Dominica's topography. Popular areas include Scotts Head and Mero.

32. Cycle around
At Nature Island Dive you can rent a mountain bike and ride around the Scotts Head/Soufriere area. Or take an organized tour along the Layou Valley Road.



33. Tube down a river
Get into the rush of the river! Wacky Rollers will take you on tubes down the lovely Layou River. Bounce through some mini rapids. Children do it and so can you!



34. Charter a fishing boat
The mighty Blue Marlins and other big game fish are sought after here.

35. Play mini-golf
Enjoy a stop at Stone Edge in Salisbury. it is situated on a cliff with spectacular sea views. Do a little putting, have a delicious lunch, browse in the boutique and book a room.

36. Eat roasted corn by the roadside
How about a natural snack before or after your bird watching, hiking or sea bathing? Look for a roadside stand(on the island side) as you approach the village of Dublanc. Enjoy a cob or two. If you are passing by on a weekend you are more likely to find it open.

37. Search for parrots in the rainforest
The endangered Sisserou and Jaco parrots can only be found here! The Syndicate Trail is an ideal place to look for them. A knowledgeable guide could assist you. There will be opportunities to discover various flora and fauna on this easy trail. Take the inland feeder road from Dublanc to reach the trailhead.

38. Tackle Morne Diablotin
If you're fit, the island's highest peak is waiting for you! A qualified guide will lead you on this strenuous daylong excursion. The view at the top is awesome! Allow 7-8 hours for this hike. To reach the trailhead take the inland feeder road from Dublanc. It's near the Syndicate Trail.


39. Picnic at an old fort
Spend a lazy afternoon at Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park. Explore the ruins of the 18th century garrison. See canons scattered amongst the trees. Gaze at magnificent Morne Diablotin from the ramparts. Take some time to walk the well-marked trails in this Park. Military engineers laid them out over 200 years ago. Note the different types of trees. Look for wildlife. Visit the museum and learn about the area's natural history.
